Amanda Abbott

Office Administrator

You almost certainly haven’t met a less likely “gearhead” than Amanda.

My grandpa Chester owned his own auto shop in Medway, Ohio, called Chet’s Auto 2015-05-11_09.40.05Service,” she says. “Ever since I was a little girl, I have had a major passion for cars. I may not have my professional license yet, but I have raced in the open class at Lucas Oil Raceway and Chandler Motor Speedway. I absolutely love cars and the feeling you get lining up at the Christmas

Tree … the adrenaline rush is incredible.”

Okay, then.

When she’s not indulging her need for speed, SmartBox’s office administrator focuses on supporting cash flow and cultivating positive relationships with other businesses and vendors to help build the company’s overall image.

“I love working at SmartBox,” she says. “There are always opportunities to learn and grow within the company. It’s definitely motivating to know that the work that I do is making a difference and it gives me a great sense of accomplishment.”

Her accomplishments are fueled (ahem) by determination, patience, and an unfailingly positive attitude. “Having a positive outlook on life and the world is so important to me. Stressing about small, minute issues is draining, and having a positive open-minded outlook is something I find important in any situation. Being positive is motivating and helps to eliminate the fear that negativity brings. As Rocky once said, ‘The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows,’ but to know that despite the bad there will always be good is the way I like to view the world.”

Speaking of sunshine and rainbows, Amanda admits that she “once dressed up as a giant Reese’s Cup for Riley Children’s Hospital & NCAA March Madness.” Regrettably, there don’t seem to be pictures.

20160403_125124If you think that Amanda is a passionate person, you’d be right. “I am very passionate about fitness and wellness,” she says. “My aunt actually teaches a health and wellness class. I feel that being fit and healthy definitely gives me a sense of empowerment and confidence. When I get in a really good workout, I feel so much better and feel like I have more energy to take on the day. And I am all about trying new things. I’m definitely an adrenaline junkie. I also wakeboard; I love scuba diving and rollercoasters. I’ve always wanted to skydive (on my bucket list), and I just recently experienced the mega zip line tour with my wonderful boyfriend, Kody Etheridge, for his birthday. He’s a Louisville fire fighter.”

Her flexible approach to both life and business serves her well. “I believe that it’s important to have the ability to be adaptable. There is no cookie-cutter way to handle everything that comes your way, especially if you are looking to grow and achieve your overall goal of success. In the past few months I have taken on new responsibilities, and with those responsibilities I’ve definitely committed to learning as much as I can and coming in with a positive attitude to tackle everything that comes my way.”

20160507_152214And if it all gets to be too much (as if that would happen), there’s always a fallback.

“I am super passionate about fashion,” she beams, “and have more shoes and hats than any person should probably own.”
